The Introduction to Welding course is designed to provide the entry level welding with the skills necessary to secure employment in the welding industry. Includes math & measurement, basic safety for welders, introduction to hand tools, and blueprint reading for welders. The introduction to Welding course will cover the required techniques and skills to pass the AWS D1.1 3G Limited Certification that may be required for employment. We invite area businesses to meet our adult learners from this course and present potential entry-level employment opportunities to our future welders.

Personal safety equipment (Klearview Hood, Welding Jacket, Welding Gloves, Safety Glasses, chipping hammer, pliers, and bag) will be provided. AWS D1.1 3G Limited Certification testing ($200) is optional to take as part of the course.
Please note: While every effort is made not to delay or cancel classes, DCTS reserves the right to do so due to low enrollment.

Class enrollment is limited therefore, NO REFUNDS will be issued after the start of class. A Certificate of Completion for the course will only be issued to participants completing a minimum of 80% of the course.

- A $1,000 deposit is required to hold a spot in the course. The class is limited to ten participants. Applicants exceeding ten will be placed on a “wait list” and notified in order of receipt of applications if spots open.

- Refunds (minus $50 application fee and 3% credit card fees if applicable) will be issued up to one week prior to the start of class.

- Adult learners must attend 80% of the classes (online and hands-on) and 70% course grade to receive a course Certificate of Completion.

Registration and fee deadline is one week prior to the first class. Individuals are not considered registered with DCTS until payment is made and a completed application is submitted to the Adult & Continuing Education Office.
Adult learners must be able to understand, speak, read, and write the English language.

Due to safety considerations, no one under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be permitted to attend class or be on the premises of Dauphin County Technical School property. It is the discretion of the instructor in making any and all determination and identification of individuals under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This may include prescription drugs if, in the opinion of the instructor the drugs impair the judgment of the participant. Copies of the DCTS Use of Tobacco Policy #222 and Drug and Alcohol Policy #227 are listed below.
