Genuine Act Of Kindness

Genuine Acts of Kindness (simply doing the right thing without being told), create a positive school climate by highlighting the importance of treating one another and property with respect. The following students were recognized with a certificate by DCTS administration for their genuine acts of kindness: Beckett Douglas, Kriti Dulal, Amariliz Lizardo, Reena Pradhan, Cayden Torres, Madelyn Weber, Makeyla Water, DaeShawn Walker, and Idalia Washington.

The Genuine Acts of Kindness observed by these students were: During Beckett’s lunch period, there was a spill of marinara sauce, and even though he didn’t make the mess, Beckett cleaned it up without hesitation or prompting from anyone. Kriti Dulal and Reena Pradhan, as leaders, took it upon themselves to organize a surprise for a classmate who is color blind. The class chipped in and bought their classmate color correction glasses so he could see color for the first time. The classmate was overwhelmed and said, “You didn’t just give me glasses, you gave me a new way to see life”. Amariliz Lizardo, a freshman, acted as an interpreter for one of her peers during rotation in Building and Construction Technology. What was remarkable, commented Mr. Brightbill, was that she did it in a very quiet and unassuming way so as not to draw attention to her or her classmate. As a result, the classmate had a really good day in the program, thanks to Amariliz’s actions. Cayden Torres found and returned misplaced sunglasses to Mrs. Geisler. Madelyn Weber, Makeyla Waters, Dae’Shauna Walker, and Idalia Washington went out of their way to help a fellow student get organized with his class materials. The teacher provided him with a binder and inserts, and these students immediately stepped in to assist. They worked together to sort and organize all of his papers by class period, ensuring everything was neat and easy to find. The classmate was incredibly thankful and appreciative of their kindness and effort.
