Course Overview

Introduction to Electrical

The Introduction to Electrical Fundamentals course will provide the adult learner with an introduction to the basic concepts of residential and commercial wiring. safety, and tool usage, with special attention to the National Electric Code Specifications used in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical construction projects.

Adult learners will be able to handle DIY projects or use this information to help make a decision to pursue a career in Electrial trade. Participants can apply to enter an apprenticeship program offered by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; Independent Electrical Contractors; or local contractors, or they can choose to enroll in an Associate or Baccalaureate Degree program at a post-secondary institution. Additional education resulting in a baccalaureate degree from a four-year college can lead to employment as an electrical engineer.

  • Tuesday & Thursday evenings
  • 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm
  • A Certificate of Completion for the course will only be issued to participants completing a minimum of 80% of the course.

  • Payment in full is two weeks prior to the first class. Submission of an application alone does not guarantee a spot in the class
  • Checks should be made out to DCTS ADULT & CONTINUING EDUCATION and mailed to 6001 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17109 or call (717) 652-3170 ext. 7902 to make payment by credit card. No refunds will be issued after the start of class.

Paperwork & Cancellations

  • Refunds (minus credit card fees) will be offered up until the start of the class.
  • No refunds will be offered after the start of class..
  • A $50 administrative fee will be charged for cancellations.
  • Cancellation requests must be received via email at AdultEd@dcts.org two weeks before the class start date.
