Course Overview
The emissions class provides the Adult Learner with the coursework and testing needed to receive the Pennsylvania Emissions Inspector Certification. This class consists of theory, demonstration on Dynamometer gas analyzing and OBDI equipment. Successful completion of this course and test qualifies the individual to inspect vehicles for emissions certification.
Classes are given over a period of three evenings (Tues, Thurs, Tues) from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. the final evening will be a review and exam. The $200 registration fee includes all instruction as well as necessary hours of theory needed to take the Emissions exam. Individuals are required to attend all three evenings.
Classes are held in Adult/Continuing Education Modular #3. Park in the lot on the right side of the school marked for Adult & Continuing Education and the classroom is on the right at the top of the wood ramp between the two buildings.
Course Info
- You must call prior to the first night of class to reschedule if you are not able to make the class. Failure to show for the class will result in possible forfeiture of payment.
- Tuesday, Thursday, Tuesday evenings 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm
- Course participants must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid photo driver’s license
- You must bring your valid driver’s license photo ID with you on the first night of class as proof of ID.
- ALL registrants are required to register with the PA Training Portal run by Parsons at (www.patrainingportal.com) AT LEAST one week prior to the class start date.
- Attendance is taken and all classroom hours must be completed as a requirement to take the final certification exams.
- As of December 2003, every emissions inspection station must employ at least one certified emissions inspector.
- All registered Emissions Class applicants must produce their receipt from Parsons confirming that they have registered and have access to the test online the first night of class.
- Adult learners MUST be able to understand, speak, read, and write the English language.

- An additional fee of $39.99 is required to register on the PA Training Portal (www.patrainingportal.com) and obtain all student materials needed for the class as well as gaining access to the online exam.
- There is a $50 charge to DCTS Adult & Continuing Education to proctor Emissions re-tests.
- Tuition must be paid in full before the start of the course.
- Registration and fee deadline is one week prior to the first class.

Paperwork & Cancellations
- Refunds (minus credit card fees) will be offered up until the start of the class.
- No refunds will be offered after the start of class..
- Cancellation requests must be received via email at AdultEd@dcts.org two weeks before the class start date.
