EMPLOYERS, PARENTS, and STUDENTS! Cooperative Education... What a great opportunity for seniors at Dauphin County Tech!

Seniors:

  • Work at a business related to their Career & Technical Program and receive a wage
  • Earn school credit for their time at work
  • See firsthand what it is like to work at an actual business
  • Gain valuable "real world" workplace experience for their future career(s)


Highlights of Qualifications:

  • Students must have a 70% grade point average in ALL their classes
  • Students must provide their own transportation to and from work
  • Students under the age of 18 must have transferable work permit
  • The Cooperative Education placement must be related to the student's Career & Technical program. The placement "Caps Off" what the student studied in school
  • Students must have satisfactory attendance and discipline record
  • A junior physical must be on file
  • Students must have proof of health insurance, auto insurance, and a current driver's license


Cooperative Education Program Advantages for Employers:

    • Establishes a partnership between the school and the employer
    • Provides an opportunity to gain ideas from fresh minds
    • Increases the pool of potential full-time, trained employees
    • Keeps DCTS informed of trends in business and industry
    • Provides the employer with a training program that stresses employability skills and good work habits
    • Reduces the time and cost of training if the student is hired for regular employment after graduation
